Essay ideas...

what to write about? ho humm...one of the things that i find interest in is how writing has changed on the internet as opposed to the way we normally write. Very few of the websites i go to are academically written...the language is usually very casual as well as having its own slang of sorts. ex W00t, ,WTF?, LOL, ROFL...even CNN.com is more casually written.

Maybe it will be related to how one develops an online persona and what people can tell about you based on how you write instead of what you write...or perhaps even both. Not really sure, still vollying around the ideas...

yes...it would be interesting to find data about various age groups and use of acronymns and lingo. I wonder how older generations who use the internet type. Perhaps another avenue to check.

Facebook or myplace might be interesting examples of online writing which is evaluated by internet peer standards rather than academic standards. If that seems like what you have in mind I can find some academic essays on it -- there is a huge discussion of facebook on the Writing Administrator's Listserv right now.

Or you could check out a certain set of forums . . .

Not sure what you have in mind here.
